Face Mapped - Figure out whats breaking you out

The old chinese form of face mapping has become really popular in figuring out what the cause is of breakout in certain areas of your face. If you have been getting persistant breakout in certain areas it may be time to step in up and have a look at what's going on in your body and make some changes. The skin is a good indicator of when something is not quite right in our body as it will show almost everything!

Zone 1 & 2: Bladder and Digestive System
This is often down to diet and hydration. Incarease your water intake to at least 2litres per day and add more leafy greens to your diet, cut back on processed or refined foods. This can also indicate a food intolerance or allergy.

Zone 3: Liver
Cut back on the coctails and reduce intake of diary. Try substitues like soy instead.

Zone 4 & 10 and 6 & 8: Kidneys
If your ears are feeling hot and swollen is can be down to lack of hydration. Increase your water intake, cut out fizzy drinks, coffees and alcohol. Dark circles under the eyes (6&8) are another indicator that you need to hydrate and catch up on sleep. Make sure you get at least 8 hours a night!

Zone 5 & 9: Respiratory System
If you are a smoker and you are noticing breakout or broken capillaries in this area it may be time to quit! Otherwise is could be a sign of allergies if you are experiencing an outbreak on the lower cheeks.

Zone 7: Heart
Get your blood pressure under control and make any necessary lifestlye changes.

Zone 12: Stomach
This can indicate a build up of toxins. Add more fibre to your diet and try a cleansing detox.

Zone 11 & 13: Hormones
High stress and hormonal changes are the cause of breakout in this area. Common in many women around the time of the month. Try evening primrose oil, great for helping to balance hormones.

Zone 14: Illness
An indicator that your body is trying to fight off illness or infection elsewhere in your body. Load up on Vitamin C and take some time out to rest and recover.

  1. Thanks for this post - I found it a really interesting read! I always get the same spot (in zone 13!) and it drives me mad! I thought it may have had something to do with 'my time of the month' so i'll definitely be investing in Evening Primrose Oil in hope it improves!

  4. I seem to have acne in 5, 9, 11, 12 and 13 - yes, I do have allergies, but don't smoke. So it's hormones and tummy! Thanks for the post.
