All About The Eyes: Lines

The skin around the eyes is the most delicate over the face. Ask anyone what their concerns are with their skin and most people will say their eyes. These posts are going to discuss the different eye concerns and the best way to treat them. Today it's lines and wrinkles around the eye area.

With such delicate skin, any facial movements cause the skin around the eye to crease. Repetitive facial movement over time and loss of skin elasticity and density means wrinkles start to take fold. As with anything, the best cure is prevention rather than correction. Starting young, using eye creams from the age of 25 will help to keep the area well hydrated and plumped and will help prevent against loss of collagen and elastin. If you already suffer from lines it is important to find the right eye cream and use it daily, without fail.

What to look for in an eye cream: Creams are great as often the eye area can suffer from dehydration, enhancing the appearance of lines and making them appear worse than perhaps they are. Something containing glycerin or hyaluronic acid is great for attracting moisture and locking it into the skin. Look for creams containing botulinum toxin mimicking ingredients such as argireline. This is great for helping to relax the muscles, thus softening the lines.

Tip: If you suffer from lines around the eyes, you will most likely suffer from similar lines around the mouth. Dot any extra eye cream around the lips to help with lines there as well.
